Vest Capital Risk Calculator: Daily Loss, Drawdown and Position Size
Free Vest Capital calculator: how much you can still lose before the daily loss limit or max drawdown closes your account, when the 20:00 ET reset comes, and a crypto position size calculator. In your browser or as a Chrome extension.
Vest Capital closes an account the moment its equity touches either loss floor, with no warning and no grace period, and both floors are checked against equity including open PnL. Vest Risk Guard does the arithmetic before you trade: type your balance at the last daily reset and your equity now, and it shows the dollars left before each floor, which floor is closer, how far you are from the profit target and how long until the next reset.
How Vest’s two floors work
The max drawdown floor is fixed when the account is created: 6% below starting capital on every evaluation (Silver 5K closes at $4,700, Gold 10K at $9,400, Platinum 25K at $23,500), and 2% or 4% on Instant accounts. The daily loss floor moves once a day, at 20:00 New York time: it is your reset balance times one minus your daily limit (3% or 4%, or none if you chose no daily limit), plus or minus any withdrawals and credits since the reset. Trading profit during the day doesn’t move it. Example: a Platinum account with a 4% limit and a $27,000 reset balance has a daily floor of $25,920, so a day that starts there can lose $1,080 at most, open trades included.
What the free version does
- Room left before each floor, in dollars and as a share of the allowance, with amber at 50% used and red at 80%.
- The binding floor: whichever of the daily and max drawdown floors you would hit first.
- Profit target progress for 1-Step (10% or 20%) and 2-Step (10% then 5%) evaluations.
- A countdown to the 20:00 ET daily reset.
- A position size calculator: entry, stop and the share of your remaining room you want to risk give the size, the position value and the leverage it uses.

Crypto position size calculator
The Position size tab works for any perpetual on Vest, crypto or not. Position size = the dollars you are willing to lose on the trade ÷ the distance from entry to stop. Example: with $380 of room left and 50% of it at risk, you can lose $190; a BTC long at $100,000 with a stop at $99,000 risks $1,000 per BTC, so the size is 0.19 BTC, a $19,000 position, about 0.7x leverage on a $26,300 account. The tool flags anything above 5x, the funded limit on most stocks (crypto allows 10x to 25x by market, index perps up to 75x), and above 75x, Vest’s maximum.
Install the Chrome extension
The extension is the same tool in your browser toolbar, one click from the Vest app. It is waiting for its Chrome Web Store listing; until then you can install it by hand: download the zip below, unzip it, open chrome://extensions, switch on Developer mode, click Load unpacked and pick the unzipped folder. It asks for one permission, storage, to remember your numbers.
Privacy and limits
Everything you type stays in your browser. The tool doesn’t connect to your Vest account, doesn’t read your screen and never places trades, so the numbers are only as current as the last equity you entered. Vest’s own dashboard is the final word on your limits. Rules were read from Vest’s documentation on 27 Oct 2026. EvalSaver earns a commission when you buy with our code.

Questions about Vest Capital
It is a percentage of your reset balance, not of your starting capital: daily floor = reset balance × (1 − your limit) + any withdrawals or credits since the reset. The reset balance is your balance plus reserved collateral at 20:00 New York time, without open PnL. A Gold account with a 3% limit that resets at $10,400 has a daily floor of $10,088.
6% of starting capital on every evaluation, fixed when the account is created and never trailing: $300 on Silver 5K, $600 on Gold 10K and $1,500 on Platinum 25K. Instant accounts use 2% ($500 account) or 4% (5K, 10K and 25K).
Every day at 20:00 America/New_York time (8 p.m. ET), whatever your own time zone. The calculator above counts down to the next reset.
Yes. Both floors are checked against current equity, which includes unrealized PnL. A position that is underwater by enough to touch a floor closes the account even if you never closed the trade.
Vest closes the account immediately and permanently, with no warning and no grace period. With our code you can get the retry paid back once through Vest Second Chance.
Divide the dollars you are prepared to lose by the distance between your entry and your stop. $200 of risk with a $500 stop distance on BTC is 0.4 BTC. Then check the leverage that size uses against your account.
